What Happens at Your First Appointment?

Step 1 – A Thoughtful Conversation

At many orthopedic clinics, new patient visits can feel rushed and transactional. That’s not how we do things at Rothenberg Orthopedics Regenerative & Sports Medicine. In fact, your first appointment with Dr. Rothenberg is intentionally thorough, unhurried, and personal.

“I want to understand your full story—how the issue started, how it’s affecting your life, what treatments you’ve tried, and what your goals are,” says Dr. Rothenberg. “We go beyond the image or test result and look at the function of your body. My goal is not just to diagnose but to connect, listen, and create a treatment plan that actually fits your life.”

“I highly recommend Dr Rothenberg and his incredible staff. I have worked as a professional in the healthcare arena for over 25 years and I know a caring, educated and intuitive doctor when I see one. Dr. Rothenberg actively listens and does not rush into procedures or diagnostics that are not needed, and my family is very happy with his support.” — Cathi Shaw-Marcus (Google Reviews

Step 2 – A Detailed Evaluation

If needed, imaging such as X-rays or real-time diagnostic ultrasound can be done during your visit.

“I use ultrasound extensively,” explains Dr. Rothenberg. “It allows me to see structures in motion and perform highly targeted injections when needed.”

This approach helps identify root causes that may not show up on static MRI scans or other imaging alone, especially useful in soft tissue or joint mechanics issues.

Step 3 – Personalized Treatment Planning

You won’t leave wondering what happens next. Most patients walk out of their first visit with a clear, individualized treatment plan.

“I want you to leave with clarity and a sense of direction. You’ll never walk out wondering, ‘What now?’” says Dr. Rothenberg.

Whether that includes physical therapy, a natural treatment plan, a medication, an injection, advanced procedure such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP)*, or simply a detailed rehab protocol, you will leave with a clear plan of action. We may also schedule advanced imaging where necessary.

A Doctor Recommended by Doctors

When fellow healthcare professionals turn to Dr. Rothenberg for their own care, it speaks volumes. Known for his clinical precision and thoughtful, non-surgical approach, Dr. Rothenberg is often the first call for local providers seeking expert orthopedic insight—both for their patients and themselves. We are deeply honored by that trust.

“As a physical therapist I see many patients from many physicians. All of Dr. Rothenberg’s patients I have treated have only the highest praise for his knowledge and care. As a result, when I needed orthopedic care I went to Dr. Rothenberg and was equally impressed. He clearly and concisely goes over all options of care with surgery being last. As a retired professional having treated orthopedic patients for over 50 years, I highly recommend him.” — Joel R. (Google Reviews
