Introducing Dr. Rothenberg: Precision Care Without the Scalpel

At Rothenberg Orthopedics Regenerative & Sports Medicine, our mission is simple: to provide innovative, effective orthopedic, sports medicine, and spine treatments that help you stay active—without unnecessary surgery. We believe in listening, personalized care, and the power of the human body to heal with the right support.

We built our practice on the belief that many people can avoid surgery and still get back to living fully. By focusing on biologic treatments (based on the body’s own healing processes), advanced imaging, and functional recovery, we aim to restore movement, ease discomfort, and support healing in a natural and effective way.

Meet Dr. Joshua Rothenberg, DO, FAAPMR, CAQSM, a double board-certified specialist in Sports Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, who blends this medical philosophy with cutting-edge science and patient-centered care. He offers non-surgical orthopedic and spine treatments in Boca Raton, Florida which get 5-star reviews from his patients.

Why Consider Non-Surgical Options?

“Too many patients are steered toward surgery before exploring other options,” Dr. Rothenberg says. His approach, grounded in the latest science and backed by years of clinical experience, focuses on minimally invasive treatments designed to support the body’s own healing processes.

Orthopedic surgeries can carry risks, including complications and mixed outcomes. Meanwhile, many non-surgical treatments are showing promising results. However, not many patients are aware of possible alternatives to surgery.

At Rothenberg Orthopedics Regenerative & Sports Medicine, we offer advanced orthobiologic therapies such as prolotherapy, bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC), platelet-rich plasma (PRP)*, microfragmented adipose tissue, and MLS Class IV laser therapy. These therapies may offer an alternative to surgery or long-term medication use for patients meeting specific criteria.

“Every decision we make is guided by a simple question: What’s best for this patient, both now and in the long run?” says Dr. Rothenberg. “That philosophy helps us focus on treatments that are precise, minimally invasive, and designed to support optimal recovery.”

Individualized Care, Personalized Treatment Plans

“Dr. Rothenberg and his team have made a real difference for me. Having a doctor who truly understands your condition and provides effective treatment can be life-changing. I had to switch my insurance when he moved to his new location and did so happily… I highly recommend him for all your pain management. I wish I could give him 10 stars.” — Melissa A.

With years of experience treating athletes, active individuals, and everyday people dealing with pain, Dr. Rothenberg specializes in non-surgical treatments for sports injuries, spine issues, and degenerative conditions including knee, hip, and shoulder joint pain.

Dr. Rothenberg built his practice on the idea that medicine should be as individual as the people it serves. He set out to make people feel heard and empowered throughout their healing journey. “I treat each patient like I would treat a member of my own family,” he says. That means longer appointments, thorough evaluations, and customized treatment plans that prioritize long-term well-being over short-term fixes.

This philosophy is based on Dr. Rothenberg’s personal background. Growing up in South Florida, he watched his mother, a dedicated oncology nurse, care for patients with strength and compassion. His lifelong fascination with movement and recovery was shaped by his own love of sports and his wife’s work as a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

A Doctor You Want on Your Team

Dr. Rothenberg’s credentials speak for themselves. After graduating in the top 10% of his class from Nova Southeastern University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, he completed his residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. He went on to complete a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), working with elite athletes from the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and NCAA Division I and II programs.

This high-level training sharpened his ability to diagnose and treat complex orthopedic and spine conditions. More importantly, it reinforced his belief in prevention, precision, and patient-first care over invasive procedures.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Rothenberg is a published author, international speaker, and active medical researcher. He has contributed to peer-reviewed journals, written chapters in leading textbooks, and co-authored a clinical guidebook on musculoskeletal ultrasound. His work has been recognized with national awards from both the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine and the Association of Academic Physiatrists.

He currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at both Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine, Nova Southeastern University, and Florida Atlantic University College of Medicine where he mentors the next generation of physicians in sports medicine and non-surgical orthopedics.

A Doctor Who Listens

When you’re in pain or recovering from an injury, you deserve a doctor who truly listens. Dr. Rothenberg’s five-star reviews reflect the deep trust and connection he builds with his patients.

“I want my patients to know I’m with them every step of the way,” he says. “I don’t rush people in and out. I listen closely, take the time to understand their story, and offer a treatment plan that makes sense.”

His practice in Boca Raton is designed around his commitment to make high-quality, personalized care more accessible. That’s why Rothenberg Orthopedics Regenerative & Sports Medicine offers same-day and walk-in appointments, extended hours, and concierge services. A new state-of-the-art facility is currently in development to serve even more patients in the South Florida area.
